About us

Grandfather, father, daughter — and the same standard since 1973

Herb Grady started this company in Buena Park in 1973. Fifty-plus years and two moves later it is still owned by his family and still run the way he ran it.

A business built at the parts counter

Herb Grady opened the doors in Buena Park, California in 1973 with a simple proposition: know the equipment, stock the parts people actually need, and treat the person on the other side of the counter like you will see them again — because you will.

That proposition has survived four generations, a dozen recessions, the arrival of the internet, and the consolidation of most of our competitors into regional chains.

Buena Park to Corona to Lake Elsinore

The company started in Buena Park, in Orange County. It moved to Corona in the 1970s and to Lake Elsinore in 2020. The addresses changed; nothing else did. The business went from Herb to his son to his granddaughter without ever leaving the family, and without ever being run by someone who did not grow up in it.

Some of the customers who called the Buena Park number are still calling today.

Renee Heipley, owner

Renee Heipley grew up in this business — behind the counter with her grandfather Herb, then working alongside her dad, learning the difference between a part that lasts and a part that merely fits.

Today that means she will still tell a customer not to buy something. If the cheaper part is the right part, she says so. If the machine is not worth the repair, she says that too. It costs a sale occasionally. It has kept customers for decades.

What makes Herb Grady Company different

Family owned and operated

Four generations, one family, no outside owners. There is no private equity firm, no regional manager, and no quarterly directive to push higher-margin parts. Decisions get made by the person whose family name is on the building.

Somebody answers the phone

You call, a person answers, and that person knows what a lift cylinder seal kit is. We help diagnose before you buy. We tell you the truth about lead times. We call back. This is a low bar in our industry and we are continually surprised by how few clear it.

Low overhead, savings passed to customers

We do not carry the cost structure of a dealer network — no showroom, no national sales force, no marketing department. Our expenses are deliberately lean, and the difference lands on your invoice rather than in somebody's operating margin.

An authorized supplier of TVH

The one thing a small shop historically could not do was match a dealer's catalog depth. Our authorized supplier relationship with TVH solves that. TVH maintains more than 37 million known part references and over 930,000 products in stock, covering every major brand of forklift, warehouse equipment, sweeper, scrubber and golf cart. We reach into that catalog directly.

You get the inventory access of a global distributor from a company where the owner might be the one who answers your call.

Who we serve

Warehouses and 3PLs, agricultural operations, manufacturers, school districts and municipalities, facility maintenance contractors, golf courses and resorts, equipment dealers, independent service technicians, and plenty of people with exactly one machine that needs one part. There is no minimum order and no account application standing between you and a conversation.

About the company

Who owns Herb Grady Company?
Renee Heipley owns and runs Herb Grady Company. She is the granddaughter of founder Herb Grady: the business passed from Herb to his son and then to Renee, the third-generation owner. Her son Austin helps run day-to-day operations, making four generations of the family in the business.
How long has Herb Grady Company been in business?
Since 1973 — more than fifty years, all of it under the same family.
Has Herb Grady Company always been in Lake Elsinore?
No. Herb Grady started the company in Buena Park, California in 1973. It moved to Corona in the 1970s, following the industrial and distribution growth of the Inland Empire, and relocated to Lake Elsinore in 2020, where it operates today.
What does 'authorized supplier of TVH' mean?
TVH is the largest supplier of material handling replacement parts in the world, with a catalog of more than 37 million part references and over 930,000 products in stock. Being an authorized supplier means we source directly from that catalog rather than through a chain of middlemen — so a small family company can supply parts for virtually any make or model of equipment.
Do you service or repair equipment?
We are a parts supplier. We will help you diagnose a problem over the phone so you buy the right part, and we are glad to point you toward technicians we trust locally, but we do not run a service department.
